MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – TEMPORARY 6-MONTH CONTRACT

SUMMARY

Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc. (NGCI) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a temporary 6-month contract. NGCI manages several commercial buildings, business locations and properties that require consistent upkeep, preventative maintenance and care.

Under the direction of the VP Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and performing general maintenance across NGCI properties and business locations. The position takes a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs, troubleshooting concerns, prioritizing work and ensuring NGCI facilities are maintained in a clean, professional and safe condition.

The Supervisor designation reflects the level of responsibility for coordinating NGCI’s maintenance function and supports the future growth of NGCI’s property and maintenance operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on general maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and take ownership of maintenance priorities. Technical training or a trades background will be considered an asset.

JOB SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct seasonal maintenance, including snow removal and lawn care.
  • Perform general building and property maintenance and minor repairs within the scope of the position.
  • Conduct routine inspections of NGCI properties and identify preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Identify and help troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and other building or property maintenance concerns.
  • Recognize when maintenance or repair work requires a qualified tradesperson or specialized contractor and coordinate the required service.
  • Meet with contractors and tradespeople, provide access to NGCI properties and assist with identifying the location and nature of maintenance concerns.
  • Follow up on contractor and maintenance work to ensure identified issues have been addressed.
  • Prioritize and coordinate maintenance requirements across NGCI properties and business locations.
  • Report significant damage, unsafe conditions and major repair requirements to the VP Operations.
  • Assist with inventory control, supply requests and the security of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Clean and prepare vacant office or commercial spaces for lease when required.
  • Lock and unlock buildings, assist with securing premises when required and report unauthorized access.
  • Maintain basic records of completed maintenance, outstanding repairs and required follow-up.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by NGCI Management.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate and perform general maintenance duties across NGCI properties and business locations, including:

  • NGCI Innovative & Professional Building
  • Neyaskweyahk Fas Gas & Convenience Store
  • Maskwacis Mall
  • Bear Paw Trading Post
  • Wild West Gallery
  • Other NGCI-owned or managed properties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of general building and property maintenance.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common plumbing, electrical, mechanical and property maintenance issues.
  • General hands-on repair and maintenance skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to recognize when work requires a qualified tradesperson or specialized contractor.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Physically capable of performing the requirements of the position, including safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance needs across multiple properties.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors, staff and management.
  • Safety tickets are considered an asset.
  • Technical training or a trades background is considered an asset.

WORK HOURS

Monday to Friday
7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
